Mokihana Helicopter Tour.....23rd February

Our second day on Kauai before sailing at 2pm back to Honolulu....
We weren't sure until meeting on the pier at 06.30 whether our tour today would be on after the weather yesterday but we're a go, some light cloud but no rain.....
This is our ride this morning !!!
Well we certainly saved the best for last.....
I cannot describe what an incredible experience this was and the photos in NO way do it justice.......
As we take off and fly high over our ship the music is perfect....the theme from Hawaii 5-0....
The photos have a hazy look as taken through reflective glass....
For over an hour we fly over the most amazing landscape...
This is Waimea Canyon that we fleetingly saw yesterday on our coach tour...
A plus of the heavy rains of the past few days is that the waterfalls are running full...
Hard to portray how high these waterfalls are...and there are so many of them...
Our excellent pilot, Brian, gave us a close up view of the Canyon and the Na Pali Coast....
He narrated through noise-cancelling headphones in between a great soundtrack...
The beautiful Na Pali Coastline (we will sail past this later today)
The beach where they filmed parts of South Pacific...
The areas we have flown over today have been used in many films and TV programs........MASH & Pirates of the Caribbean to name a couple....

This was one of the best experiences ever and well worth every penny/dollar....
Sail away at 2pm.....
A tricky golf hole......
The six of us gather on our balcony as we sail past the stunning Na Pali coastline....
Fabulous scenery and then time to head for the last time to the Goldrush Bar....
This little chap is my favourite "towel" creation....again thank you Mario...
Tomorrow we disembark our ship at Honolulu but there is still another day of sightseeing for us all....

  1. Clearly a great experience, well worth while. Cant make out if day was a bit cloudy or its the effect of taking photos through glass, but as ever you captured some great shots. Snow this weekend and with a vengeance, we had about 5 inches so it stopped proceedings somewhat and I was forced to spend the weekend watching Rory's win at the Arnold Palmer and wishing for Florida weather. Tuesday now and I dont think there will be golf today as snow still widespread on open ground. Roll on Spring. Keep trucking! A&M xx

    1. Thanks Alan...yes re glass, I meant to make a comment of that will do so now....
We heard that the snow was bad again, so pleased I haven't had to get to work in it and makes our two chilly nights here seem quite warm !!!
Tomorrow is the first day of spring so here's hoping that's the last of the white stuff for you...

  2. Hi Both,
Well it is now official you are a pair of "high flyers".
All looks very exiting love the sights.
Weekend we were snowed in,but all cleared now,and a mini heatwave is forecast 10 degrees( but only for 2 days)
Up to my eyes in paint pots at present decorating the kitchen.
Always have a liquid reward though when brushes are cleaned for the day.
    Have fun.
    Cheers,
    Ann & Dave
